Update from Vice President Academic Fiona Allan: All programs to provide on campus learning experiences this winter

With a strong focus on ensuring a safe learning environment, Niagara College is planning to increase on-campus learning in January for the Winter 2022 term, including the opportunity for on-campus learning for all students.

Recognizing that students need ample time to plan for their studies, Niagara College is planning to provide on-campus learning experiences in every program this winter. While many programs will continue to mix remote and in-person learning, students in all programs will be able to have at least a partial on-campus learning experience. We will continue to provide fully online learning in a very limited number of programs where necessary. Should changes in COVID trends or government restrictions require further changes in program delivery, students will receive updates directly from their program area.

As we look to provide a fulsome college experience for our students, we will continue to closely monitor pandemic information and public health guidance and directives, and increase or enhance on-campus services and activities where it is safe to do so and permitted within the province's re-opening framework. Regular updates will be posted to our website throughout the fall.

Niagara College's mandatory vaccine policy, which requires all students, employees and contractors who are on campus to be fully vaccinated against COVID 19, will remain in place for the Winter 2022 term with full vaccination required by the start of term in order to access campus. Information for uploading vaccine documents in advance of the Winter 2022 term will be provided in the coming weeks.

FAQs regarding Niagara College's mandatory vaccine policy can be found here.

All on-campus activity will comply with public health measures and government directives for January 2022. We continue to monitor and adapt to these directives as we plan our Winter 2022 term deliveries.

Throughout the pandemic, Niagara College has provided a safe learning environment in adherence with public health guidelines. Almost half of our students have experienced an on-campus/ in person element to their program over the past year, and we look forward to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment and workplace as we continue to increase on-campus activity in 2022.
