The Voice: Little-known Black history comes to light in new documentary series from NC alumnus

A new six-part documentary series produced and directed by NC alumnus Graeme Bachiu (Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film, 2003) is featured in this December 4 piece in The Voice of Pelham.

“Canfield Roots” highlights the history of the Black slaves who travelled on the Underground Railroad from the United States and settled in the Canfield, Ont. area. The series, which is available on Bell Fibe TV, traces the roots of the Black families, known as the “Freedom Seekers,” who made lives for themselves in Canfield and features several of the direct descendants of the families.
