The Standard: Alumna Paloma Lara maker of Brazil-inspired, locally-produced Cheese Dots

Niagara College Culinary Management Co-op program graduate Paloma Lara (2017) and her husband Andrew Hoto were featured in the Eating Niagara column in the Dailies for their Brazil-inspired, locally-produced Cheese Dots business.
Lara and Hoto live and work in St. Catharines, supply their Brazilian-inspired snack to restaurants and the public. Lara’s homesickness for her native Brazil inspired her to enrol in NC’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute. After her studies, Lara worked at Trius Winery and Pie’za Pizza in Niagara-on-the-Lake before opening up Cheese Dots, “a play on pão de queijo, a Brazilian cheese bread the size of a golf ball that can be found at family dinners and on café tables, at gas stations and on street food carts, even in dedicated fast food outlets.” Read the August 3 feature story here.
