Mike Balsom with The Niagara-on-the-Lake Local wrote a feature about Michael Frena who graduated from NC’s Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film program in 2018. Frena has been named the play-by-play announcer for the Niagara Predators, the Greater Metro Jr. A Hockey League’s local team, during the 2021-2022 season.
The article highlights Frena’s time at the College where he gained experience doing play-by-play, colour commentary and pre and post-game interviews for sporting events including NC Knights basketball games and Junior B hockey games across Niagara. During his program, Frena also interned with TSN 1050 radio where he supported the hosts of the Overdrive show.
Frena is hopeful that his new gig as Niagara Predators commentator will help him build his resume and lead to future job opportunities in the industry.
