A June 17 article in the three Niagara Dailies features the 2022 Ontario Wine Awards, which were presented at NC. At the awards ceremony, NC Winery and Viticulture alumnus Paul Pender (2006), who passed away tragically in February 2022, was honoured through the inaugural Paul Pender Memorial ‘Rising Star’ award, given to winemaker Alec Baines. Pender was also named winemaker of the year at the ceremony.
Of the 600 wines entered in the competition, the NC Teaching winery received three awards: bronze in the Gamay category, silver in the Riesling Dry category, and silver for its dry white varietal.
