After close monitoring of COVID-19 trends and consultation with public health authorities, Niagara College will require all student athletes who wish to participate in varsity athletics to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a Health Canada or World Health Organization (WHO) approved vaccine.
Student athletes must provide proof of a first dose by their tryout date and those with only one vaccine will be required to show proof of appointment for the second vaccine at tryout check-in. Athletes can submit their proof of vaccination by uploading a copy of their vaccination receipt to the Athletics portal. Accommodation requests for those who are not vaccinated due to medical or other grounds recognized by the Ontario Human Rights Code can also be submitted via the Athletics portal.
Niagara College has also announced that it will require students, employees and contractors who are learning or working on campus in September to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in addition to its mandatory vaccination requirement for on-campus residences.
