Important Winter Term update for students: Temporary changes to program delivery

Given current COVID-19 trends and the uncertainty around the rise of the Omicron variant, Niagara College is implementing what we expect to be short-term modifications to program delivery for the start of the Winter 2022 term, as we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our learning environment and workplace. We will be providing regular updates in advance of the start of the Winter Term - please be sure to monitor our website and social media channels regularly throughout the holiday break.

Current health and safety measures will continue into the Winter Term, while we pause a planned increase in on-campus learning by shifting some program elements to remote/online delivery. These changes will be in effect until January 28, at which time we will reassess the delivery mode of these courses for the remainder of the term.

Other practical labs and essential elements will continue to be delivered on-campus as planned with personal protective equipment (PPE) and other health and safety measures in place, including the requirement for enhanced PPE in situations where physical distancing can't be maintained. Co-ops will also continue, dependent on guidance from employers. While we anticipate minimal impact on timetables, you will receive further information regarding changes to the delivery of your courses in advance of the start of term - please watch for messages from Enrolment Services, your program area, and monitor the college website regularly.

Our expectation is that our campuses, including eateries, study spaces, and common areas, will remain open for the start of the Winter Term.

For those who have not yet enrolled in classes, our Mandatory Vaccination Policy remains in place, and students will not be able to select their timetable until they upload their proof of full vaccination. As the Province of Ontario expands access to booster doses, we strongly encourage you to get your booster dose as you become eligible.

As Niagara College has done throughout the pandemic, we will continue to actively monitor local transmission and infection rates, following directives and guidance from the provincial government, the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) and Niagara Region Public Health. We are committed to adjusting our operations as needed, and we are hopeful that we will be able to resume our plans for an increase in on-campus learning during the Winter term, when it is safe to do so.

We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we continue to adapt our operations within a rapidly-changing landscape. We will provide you with updated information regularly in advance of the start of term - please monitor our website and social media channels regularly throughout the holiday break.
