Dr. Steve Hudson Scholarship supports access to quality education

On September 15, the Niagara College community celebrated the illustrious career and achievements of Steve Hudson, PhD, former senior vice president, Academic and Learner Services, who officially retired on August 31, 2020.

Small cohorts of staff and visitors gathered in shifts on the lawn of NC’s Wine Visitor and Education Centre at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus, while maintaining physical distancing, to honour Steve and share well wishes for his retirement after a 20-year career at NC.

During the celebration, Del Rollo, chair of NC’s Board of Governors, announced that Steve has been named NC’s Senior Vice President Emeritus, a designation bestowed on him by the Board of Governors to honour his outstanding contributions to the College.

NC president Sean Kennedy also announced the creation of the Dr. Steven Hudson Scholarship, established to support access to quality education for NC students and as a lasting tribute to Steve.

Over his career, Hudson oversaw nearly all areas of the College and most recently, he was responsible for one of the largest portfolios in Ontario’s college system.

His tenure at NC has been marked by an unwavering focus on students, a keen intellect, a warm heart and a strong leadership style, as admired by his NC colleagues, his peers from across Ontario’s college system, and the community.
