Niagara College alumnus Lequan Hylton (Business – General, 2020; Protection, Security and Investigation – Private Security, 2017), who played on the Knights men’s basketball team, was interviewed by Rod Mawhood during the Oct. 16 Niagara Sports Report on Newstalk 610 CKTB.
Earlier this fall, Hylton was selected as one of 10 apprentice coaches to participate in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association’s Mentorship Program, in partnership with the Coaches Association of Ontario. Knights men’s basketball Head Coach Phil Mosley is Hylton’s coach mentor for the program over the next two years.
During the interview, Hylton shares highlights from his time playing at NC, including earning a bronze medal, playing in an all-star game and the feeling of family between his fellow athletes and team coaches. He commends Coach Mosley for his consistent style and his respectful attitude with his players.
The interview closes with Hylton’s advice for young athletes: stay focused and “make sure your work ethic is top of the line.”

Mawhood also wrote a piece in The Niagara Independent on Oct. 19 about Hylton and another local athlete involved in mentorship opportunities. Read the article here.
