On June 20, CHCH released an article on The Tawse Winery Paul Pender Memorial BIPOC Student Award honouring the late award-winning Niagara winemaker Paul Pender.
The scholarship will support diversity in winemaking at Niagara College and is being created by Moray Tawse, owner of Tawse Winery in Vineland and Redstone Winery in Beamsville where Pender held the role of Director of Viticulture and Winemaking.
The fund will go towards an annual $10,000 scholarship for BIPOC students in NC’s Winery and Viticulture Technician program, from which Pender graduated from in 2006.
