CBC: Ecosystem alumna strips a river full of pesky invasive plant by hand

Niagara College alumna Katie Church (Ecosystem Restoration, 2022) was featured in a CBC News article posted on August 31.

The article highlights Church’s efforts in leading a team of students, working with the Invasive Species Centre, tasked with finding and plucking invasive European water chestnut from the Welland River this summer. Church managed to pull “the thick, rooted green invasive aquatic plant by hand along a 30-kilometre stretch of the Welland River.”
